An established wildflower farm producing cut flowers for the domestic and Japanese markets is seeking an enthusiastic, native flower fanatic to take over the farm. Initially a full time paid position (hourly rate $19.49, casual $24.36) with the expectation of owning or leasing the business. An employee share ownership or leasing arrangement is proposed.
The wildflower crops include:
- Banksia plagiocarpa and Banksia robur
- Protea ‘Pink Ice’, ‘Limelight’, Venus’
- Waratahs ‘Mirrigon’, ‘Corroboree’, ‘Bridal gown’, ‘Red centre’, ‘Brimestone early’
- Flannel flowers
- Foliage: Acacia baileyana, Leptospermum morrisonii (Burgundy), Grevillea ‘Ivanhoe’
Owner Harry Kibbler has been growing wildflowers for the last 16 years on the farm on the mid north coast of NSW. The area is close to Kempsey, Hat Head National Park and local beaches. Harry intends to keep living on the property and lease or sell the business to an enthusiastic younger person. The business is viable and employs casual workers as required. In the last two years, the area under cultivation has doubled in size.
This is an opportunity for a younger person to get into the business without the high financial requirement of establishing a flower farm and then waiting years for the plants to produce a financial return from the sale of the flowers.
